Welcome to the American Red Cross Heartland Chapter. Each year more than 1,000
volunteers from Omaha and the surrounding areas serve as Heartland Chapter
volunteers serving local community needs — helping people in emergencies,
helping out at local blood drives, teaching first aid and CPR courses and helping
with our military program of services through our Offutt Air Force Base location. Red
Cross volunteers work directly with people, serve on boards of directors, serve
as managers, advisers, and provide behind the scenes support.
Heartland Chapter recruited more than 500 new disaster volunteers in 2005,
as part of the “Give Hope Now” National Red Cross recruitment
campaign. Because of the unique circumstances that unfolded last year
with national and international disasters, community members came forward in
record numbers to volunteer with the American Red Cross. Please be patient
with us, as we spend the coming weeks and months responding to hundreds of
inquiries from people wishing to volunteer.
Thank you again for your interest. The American Red Cross delivers services
in your community through the support of people just like you giving generously
of their time. Your willingness to be trained as a Red Cross volunteer
indicates that you want to be ready to help in times of emergency.
