HIV/AIDS Starter Facts $35 (4 Hours)
Description:
This course offers participants knowledge and skills that allow them to separate facts from misinformation and opinions on HIV and AIDS. It is ideal for community members who want more basic knowledge about HIV and AIDS or for professionals who are seeking educational hours. Also, ideal for businesses or organizations who would like to provide HIV/AIDS training to employees or members.
This is a Pre-Requisite for Presenter Training.
Candidates must be 17 years of age; challenge options available.
To receive certification, participants must score 80% or higher on a 50-multiple-choice facts test of material covered in course.
Students who successfully complete the course will receive American Red Cross certification, valid for one year .

Description:
This is a Pre-school-Grade 3 hand washing and hygiene program. A great program for day cares! The presentation materials include black light, phosphorescent lotion, audio tape, song sheets and stickers. Also included is some age appropriate HIV/AIDS education material.

Basic HIV Education: This presentation focuses on the basics of HIV, what it is, its transmission and prevention. This presentation is ideal for those with minimal HIV/AIDS awareness and education.
FAQ: How does a person get AIDS?
HIV/AIDS: Just the Facts: AIDS, a result of HIV infection, is a diagnosis given by a doctor when a person has fewer than 200 T-Cells. AIDS is Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. This presentation builds on Basic HIV Education. It explains the correlation between HIV and AIDS in greater detail. This presentation is ideal for those who have had some HIV training and would like more knowledge about HIV/AIDS.
Prevention Starts with You: A Guide to the Nine Most Common Sexually Transmitted Infections: This presentation is ideal for those wanting more extensive knowledge about various Sexually Transmitted Infections, including HIV/AIDS. This includes more information about Chlamydia and Gonorrhea, Herpes, Hepatitis, and more. If your class or is concerned about the increase in Sexually Transmitted Infections and having the facts about transmission and protection, then this presentation would be ideal.
HIV and Healthy Relationships: How can building Healthy Relationships help prevent HIV and other STIs? How can communication help protect me? How can building respect in a relationship help in reducing HIV and other STIs? These questions are addressed in HIV and Healthy Relationships. Using information from Unmasking Sexual Con Games by Kathleen M. McGee and Laura J. Buddenberg, this presentation evaluates signs of an unhealthy relationships, as well as provides information as to how to set healthy boundaries in a relationship. This presentation is ideal for groups wanting basic HIV Prevention information.
ACT Smart HIV/AIDS Education Curriculum: This can be used as a separate component or integrated into any presentation. This curriculum is broken down into three age groups: 6-9 years; 10-13 years and 14-17 years.
All of the above presentations are free. Presentations can be made longer or shorter to suit the needs of the group. All content and information shared is tailored to meet the needs of the group based on age group consideration, community values, and needs.

Description:
In this course, participants will learn to present factual HIV/AIDS and other STIs information. Presentations (see above) have been specially developed to meet the needs of the Heartland and Loess Hills Chapters. Participants will learn to share information in neutral and non-judgmental ways. Participants will learn to share factual information without sharing their own personal opinion. Participants will also learn to facilitate a group of people in community based discussions about HIV/AIDS and other STIs. This is an ideal volunteer opportunity for social workers; social work students; medical professionals or students; those interested in educating youth; community leaders interested in HIV/AIDS Prevention and Education; and those interested in being a positive role model for youth.
